Increase Bar Revenues Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version
Tuesday, August 17 2004 @ 03:36 PM
Contributed by: Probar

Industry NewsThere are many ways for a bartender to increase revenues for his/her establishment and for him/her self.
Get to know your regulars. Introduce yourself and ask them their names. If you have a hard time remembering names create a visual memory trick that will help you remember both their name and their favorite drink. I use very stark tricks connecting a name with the first letter of an animal and a visual of the animal with its drink. (i.e. Robert/Red Robin/Scarlet Ohara (Southern Comfort/Cranberry Juice - R for the first name and animal/Red for the drink color)
When the customer enters ask them immediately if they would like their regular drink. They will enjoy that. Suggest some food that compliments the drink. If the drink isn't top shelf suggest a more expensive top shelf substitute.
Once you are a little comfortable with the customer, suggest they bring a friend. With liquor and food prices commanding excellent margins you have just created some real revenues and profits. Once your regular customer brings a friend to the bar they will stay longer and eat and drink more. Your bar is livelier and more inviting to still more customers.
On top of that you are enjoying yourself more while making more money!
